The status of hunger  and food insecurity of Remote Nepal is  getting more attention and many new issues are in debate. Many food security experts claim the situation of the reason as "It's Rice Insecurity rather than Food Insecurity". The poorest region of nation- the Karnali Region of Nepal is getting Food Assistance from many years back. As only one percent of the total area of the region is arable and poor road  transport facilities to the region and within the region, signifies the importance of assistance. Do this assistance should be continued or end, is great debate of the time among food security experts of the nation. Those who are in against of food assistance are in favor of development assistance and raising voices for protection and promotion of some local indigenous crops like Buckwheat, Chino, Barley, Finger Millet, Indigenous Rice ( Marshi), Kagino and others. They claim the food assistance is unwanted for long term( chronic) regional food security situation ,as it makes them more dependent and many local values, indigenous products and practices will be vanished. In this background, an article from IRIN is focusing on Food Assistance and its relevance in Karnali Region at present. The article has tried to incorporate different views of  government officials, donor agencies, UN agencies, Development agencies and Food security experts.
