Nepal Rastra Bank has announced the Monetary policy for year 2070/71. Some changes are more visible like CR has decreased to 5 % for A Category, 4.5 % for B Category and others 4 percent. But the most visible change related to agriculture sector is , the provision made for Investment in Agriculture and Energy sector should be at least 12 percent and 20 percent altogether in primary sector of nation.

Now how much should be and would be in agriculture sector is question to us. Earlier total 12 percent of investment was in primary sector of nation. Agriculture was less prioritized and banks were ready to pay charges ( fine ) to NRB rather than investing in agriculture sector. If such provision is kept as such, it will not ensure agricultural investment even after this incremental boundary.

Our incapability to ensure banking sector that agriculture is safe investment compared to other business they are investing, is one of the reason for low investment in agriculture sector. Lets see how does this monetary policy plays a vital role in boosting up the backbone of nation- agriculture.
